Project: Gerber® Product Video
The biggest challenge with anything medical education-related is making sure the stakeholders feel heard while still meeting budget and time objectives.
When Gerber® released a new infant formula (Gerber® Extensive HA®) for management of cow’s milk protein allergy they needed to inform the healthcare community, and pediatric physicians specifically, about the availability and benefits of their product. I was contracted to create a promotional video to introduce the product and explain its advantages to their target audience.
From my previous experiences with medical education I knew that the biggest challenge I’d face was not in getting the material correct and looking great, but rather in navigating the personalities and needs of the various stakeholders attached to the project. Doctors and scientists have a tendency to insist on the inclusion of every single micro-detail and often lose sight of the forest for the trees. Thus, the review process can quickly spiral out of control if very clear agreement is not reached, up front, about the number and scope of allowable changes. Because I was able to reach such an agreement, getting buy-in from both my point-of-contact and (most importantly) her medical review team, I was able to finish the project on time and under budget.
